About Us

Probably more than you really want to know. Here we both wrote our bios, and each others bios, like they say, somewhere in between lies the truth. We did do these blind and other than spell checking them, they are unedited.

What HE says about Her
What SHE says about Him
Actually, aside from being perfect for me, she's the perfect tester. She's more picky than any three people I know put together. This makes her a great tester. She's NOT afraid to turn her nose up at my cooking or my experiments in the kitchen. She is an amazing decorator and truly has a flair for it. This website and drive behind it, I hold her personally responsible. She's the planner and creative direction, I'm just the grunt/techno/researcher, she's the boss.
Hmmm…if I had to describe him in one word, I’d have to say “mine.” I don’t mean mine as in property, but in every other sense. Aside from being my soul mate, he knows me better than anyone (and I mean knows me better than me). He makes me think things through – my conscience. He makes me believe in myself – my inspiration. He protects me – my guardian. My friend, my partner, my everything. So when he said, “Let’s do a project together.” I jumped in whole-heartedly. We create together and have fun doing it. I cannot stress just how respectful he is and how willing to try new things even if he gets no glory from it. Please, he made my jewelry for my company Christmas party because I couldn’t find anything that I liked, and refused to let me tell anyone. From that to making some odd dishes in the kitchen to making the most delectable cookies to scaring the bejeezus out of the neighborhood kids on Halloween, he’s truly the model for this site. (Oh, and my muffle too…I’m limited to the words I can type.)
What He says about HIM
What She says about HER
One of my first jobs ever was as a dishwasher at a country club. I did get the opportunity to help out in the kitchens with the cooking. The real basis for my love of cooking was being in the kitchen with my grandmother, who baked and cooked regularly, and let me help her out (mostly crushing walnut, which i still hate to eat, and coring aapples) Learning to bake from a woman who was never bashful with the shortning, the sugar or the fat, has made me a better baker, and cook today. I have always loved fooling around on the web and building web pages, so the love of cooking and baking and working on projects together with her, have led me here. An Eventful Year .com This is a massive, probably the biggest, project I have ever undertaken, and with her help it will continue to grow with no end in sight. A challenge I am ready to undertake. And I thought rating the cookies was going to be hard enough, he made me talk about myself. Well, seeing "to be determined" was not acceptable by HIS standards, I guess I'll have to do my best. I'd have to say I'm about the pickiest eater I have ever met. He hates cooking for me because I'm the type of person that likes celery raw, but not cooked. I don't know, I've just always been a little weird when it came to food habits. So if I have given a rating on a recipe, I truly have tasted it, otherwise I wouldn't have commented on it. As far as me otherwise, I take after my dad and mom. If I see something I like, I will try to make it. Hey, I can probably make it better anyway, right? I love to cook, draw and create, etc. I can't tell you the last time I bought a Halloween costume for myself. When I was younger, I went as a Christmas tree for Halloween. Yes, I made the costume complete with lights and all. Unfortunately, the lights died and people thought I was the statue of liberty with the crown on my head, but oh well. I even make costumes for other people and like coming up with creative ways to do things. I've made jewelry, ornaments, ceramics and other things as well. So many people have told me that I should put the things I make in a book and sell them. It became a dream of mine. And hey, with Shawn by my side, I'm hoping that dream is coming true.

This site is lovingly dedicated to the true originators of the site, and our respective inspirations

Francis, his Grandmother, who passed in April 2007 at the age of 91 and loved cookies and sweets her entire life. Proof that cookies are good for you.

&

Jean, her mother, who passed away in June 1982 at the too young age of 33 whom family and friends remember recipes she made for them and the time she spent over the years in the kitchen perfecting some of the recipes found here.

Just ask. Seriously, it's not a problem. No...really. We might want a reciprocal link or something, but what's the worst that could happen, we say "yes"?
